Nasturtium Bliss

Claude Monet loved the vibrant nasturtium. The lovely flower bunches trail the floor of his famous garden Giverny now like they did when he plein-air painted them. I discovered them this summer and know why the simple nasturtium inspired Monet. They are the perfect flower, imo. They smell wonderful. They grow easy. They are entirely edible.

Geodetic Center Tour 2008

Our first tour in 2008 to Meades Ranch Geodetic Center was a blast! Over 30 women, children and men made the trek to this sacred site. We met at my place in Luray, Kansas and took the four wheel drive up to the hilltop on Saturday morning, March 15, 2008. Although the weather was chilly and windy everyone took to the energy of this incredible moment in time. Geodetic Center tours are booked though www.eviewrayartist.com

Greetings this new year 2007. The first news of the year is one tiny word:
ACEOs. I fell in love with this little sticks of dynamite and have made a few. A few being 100s, LOL. ACEOs tell a story about art, collectors, having fun with all this.
Like baseball cards they follow the same type crowds. Their size is the bb card size
and traders adore them off ebay and private artists. The Art Card Edition Original
is a mini pop of the giant 'scapes I do. This note of news is to red flag the ACEO

Greetings from the 2006 Tallgrass Film Festival where first film from Tara Wray is showing. This award winning doc is called Manhattan, Kansas. It won the opening choice of the gala event. I'm in love with your Tara, Evie! I feel a closeness to her. She's so beautiful, sensitive, intelligent, sweet and so loving. She just doesn't know how to show most of that in comparison to your "force of nature", "out in the open" presence.

And you Evie...you were wonderful in it. You handle what I can only imagine was a very trying and tender situation with Grace, humor, dignity and so much style. You are astounding, simply incredible.

Lucas Library Show

The Capital of outsider art , Lucas, Kansas, invited me to show paintings at the Public Library.
The paintings will be there August 23, 2006- October 28, 2006. A reception is at the library on October 4th , 3:30-5:30pm. These are several of the paintings making their debut in this my first show on Earth.

What does that say to me as an artist? ONLY EVERYTHING!!! My rockets of fire claim,
" Follow your own bliss and you'll live your own purpose on Earth. "

In 2002, living in Charlotte, NC, dancing in a troupe called "For the Pleasure of your Company", I had a intuitive hunch to pack it up and head to Kansas. Here I would "Do" two things. First I would clear the way of 20 years storage. Storage that represented trying to please others and forgetting to please myself. It took a year of tenacity and courage to achieve this goal.

Second: I would gather what I called (WHAT CALLED ME!!!!!) my new life and go to a site that this intuition called the Geodetic Center. My new life was the ARTIST'sWAY. My new life represented me as an individual, not a role of someone else's imagination. My new life told me that i would find what i was looking for. My new life said, you're Evelyn Wray, the artist.

Ah yes, a misspent life coming to fruition. I gathered my brushes and a box of paper, shot my arrow and landed in Hunter, KS. This outlaw center was perfect for me to start painting, make a space for Tara, daughter in NYC, to visit me for a film role, and find the Geodetic Center.

It took five months and the mission was done. After meeting the property owner, I moved into an old crap house of his and with the sweat of my brow, remodeled it into a cottage of Gallery hangings for the painting art biz that formed from : A HUNCH!

In 2005, Tara finished up her film making and here is a pic of us , at The Geodetic Center of my intuition.
What one hunch leads to on one's own leading edge.

The better it gets? The Better it gets.

A Blog Like None Other

Today I appreciate the Neon Colors in life. Those demonstrations of offbeat are a statement that claim's 'artist rights'. Jeeezz, I love being authentic.

One thing i have learned in the last several years is that the hoop jumping crowd may have more backup, but the artist has herself. If you have yourself you have everything. I say, live with courage, it is one of the fine places on this Planet Earth, that isn't very crowded.

This is my beginning blog post. I intend to create this blog like none other, so check back often,lol.
